As we got closer and closer to Fuji-San, it became pretty clear that we would not be able to see it well, it was just the wrong day for this excursion. We still could get to the fifth station, which is at about 2300m of altitude a good two third of the total height of Mount Fuji. There it had become very cold with the height and much more windy, there was even still a bit of snow here and there. We could still go for a tour of the souvenirs shops, as well as of a small temple built next to it. By luck I could get a small glimpse through the clouds.

We then came back to the restaurant for a Japanese lunch, and when we leaved we could see much more of it and made a quick stop for some pictures, the top stayed in the fog, but the bottom became much more visible, and you could just get the idea of the complete size and shape, well last year I had only the top with sun, this time the bottom with rain, I guess it just means I’ll have to comeback to see it complete.

For the rest of the trip the weather was as much as an issue, we could take the aerial car as planned that would take us to the volcanic active area with the Kuro Tamago, that I went to last year, but the weather being poor we could not see so much of Hakone Park, and it was quite funny at some point going through the clouds and seeing just the two cables on both side of the cabin without anything to keep them in the air. On the top I took part of a quick round trip to the real top where we had those famous black eggs, that are said to give seven more years to live, and it was quite a reward as we all got completely soaked by the trip, with the wind and persistent rain.

The next stop was Lake Ashi, and a cruise on the lake, that had the same fate as the aerial lake as being high with low clouds visibility was very low, but it still was a nice ride, talking with the other persons of the group. It was then time to get to the Odawara station where we took the Shinkansen back for Tokyo, and that eventually made a stop at Shinagawa where is my hotel so I had nothing to do than get off it to be at my final destination.

Tomorrow is already the last day, that arrived much too quick, I might not do a lot tomorrow, I’ll be planning my way back on Sunday to the airport, getting the N’Ex tickets, and things like that in the morning. And I’ll probably get out for some shopping in the afternoon, to get myself a few things and maybe a few presents before being back at the hotel for one final good night of sleep before the 11hours lengthy trip back to Paris. And then I’ll of course make some kind of conclusion once I’ll be back in France.

View the pictures / Voir les photos

Lire en français Today you’ll find much less picture, one reason to that is quite simple that there were not so much to see, as today has been a very poor day, very cloudy, and up to the Mount Fuji and all very rainy and windy.
